        I am in the process of purchasing an existing laundromat and retooling. The current owner has a dozen 30# dryers that are less than 5 years old. Is there any reason to not replace 6 30# dryers with 5 50# double-stack dryers? It seems like they would make more money per sq ft.

        Pros:
        – higher vend price
        – 10 machines vs. 6
        – used dryers to sell (realizing I won’t get much)
        – increased dryer capacity allows me to put more washers in

        Cons:
        – significant additional cash outlay

          People generally gravitate towards the bigger machines. I have more 45lb stacks and 75lb dryers than I do 30lb stacks.
