Our laundromat is in Arizona and we are having an issue with the A/C units getting lint sucked into them, clogging the coils and condenser fins, resulting in high temps inside. I am having to have them rinsed every3-4 days. Does anyone have any potential solutions other than relocating the A/C units or vents (which would be cost prohibitive)? Has anyone tried using some sort of filtration on the vent ends? I obviously don’t want to risk having a fire hazard, so I’m being cautious. Has anyone tried a bag filter type set up on the end of the vent duct?

Dan,
Are your AC units sitting on the ground near the dryer vents? You might be able to relocate these in the future when it’s time to replace or charge the lines. A contractor might be able to move these to the roof if that is an option. If you’re in a lease, be sure to check to see if there is anything that might prohibit you from doing this.
A booster fan designed for this application might allow you to redirect the dryer vents further away. You’ll need to check the specifications of the dyers to make sure you find a compatible fan (can keep up with dryer CFM).

Or if there is a way to build some sort of partition that still allows the exhaust to easily vent, but diverts it away from the AC units. You might have to rinse that occasionally, but it’s better than having the lint clogging the coils on your outdoor unit.
