        My husband and I are new to the idea of owning a laundromat and while we were open to buying an existing laundromat, we came across a commercial property in a newly built strip center that we are strongly considering for a site. I guess I have many questions about whether there is a better option between buying an existing laundromat or building from the ground up considering we are newbies to this industry. Any thoughts, advice, things to consider, etc. are greatly appreciated

          Hi and welcome!

          There will be differing views from each of the spectrum as veterans weigh in on this. From what I can gather, there are pro’s and con’s to each.

          One of the FIRST things to hunt down is how much the local municipality is going to charge for hooking in laundry machines to their sewer. In some areas it does not matter and in others in can get into hundreds of thousands of dollars and can break the whole project.

          That would be one of the first things to look at.
