        Hi all,
In my search for a laundromat to acquire, I’m seeing a lot of customer reviews online about pests; specifically rats. It’s pretty disgusting and also apparently pretty common. I don’t know much about pest control, but I do know that step 1 is to remove what is attracting them. Can anyone tell me what is attracting rats to laundromats? Is it the vending machines? The dirty laundry? Customers snacking and spilling crumbs that don’t get swept up? When I get a laundromat, I really want to address any pest problems straightaway. I can use all the advice!

We have contracted a pest/insect management company. One of the main reasons we went with them is they set multiple glue traps around the laundry and before they start there next treatment they check the glue traps and they adjust accordingly. Also there policy is once a quarter and if I have to call them back before the next quarter that treatment is free.
otherwise what you have listed as far as removing food and keeping clean should make a drastic difference. if your wanting to trap vermin yourself I’ve found the method of using a bucket with a ramp where they fall in and can’t get back out to be the most successful. springs traps just trap one at a time.

I have a location that is in a strip mall with a restaurant, we can get rats there because of the them. Otherwise depending on your location you could experience roaches or bed bugs. Roaches can be treated for and we have always been able to keep that in check. The bed bugs can’t survive for long in a laundromat setting and they are usually killed in the dryer.

We used to get mice and rats from a nearby grocery store. I used the glue traps for a while but they lead to a long suffering death. Regular mouse traps work better. For a large rat I got one of those traps that electrocutes. It worked great. Some of them even have wifi. Haven’t had any for a while.
