Any Mat owners out there switch to Token or Dollar Coins due to the Coin Shortage.
If So
1 How did you go about this transition (Do you recommend a token company)
2 How did the customers handle this switch
3 Does this make your weekly counts smoother now that its all cash and no more counting coins
4 What contigenices are in place if you find tokens in your machines that arent yours -

1 How did you go about this transition (Do you recommend a token company)
I am in the middle of switching two stores to token. We went with Imonex for the coin drops and Hoffman for the tokens. So far, I am happy with both picks.
2 How did the customers handle this switch
I do not know yet. However, the Imonex drops accept tokens and quarters. So I am uncertain why a customer would be upset. Also, many of our machines are $6 or more which is a bunch of quarters. I believe customers will like the dollar tokens to save time plugging coins in the machines. And will be easier to carry around compared to $20-30 in quarters.
3 Does this make your weekly counts smoother now that its all cash and no more counting coins
I think it will be slightly more complex as we will need a coin sorter to sort out the tokens and quarters.
4 What contingencies are in place if you find tokens in your machines that arent yours
What contingencies do you have for fake quarters? The token sizes are very specific and not readily available to the public. Also, quarter tokens cost between .11-.15 cents each. So if someone brings some in from somewhere, I am still getting value.
I hope the above helps! I am happy to update as I find out more!

I lost nearly half my supply of quarters at the peak of the coin shortage (for me) in July. I was worried I might actually run out since my bank would only give me one $10 roll per visit.
I stopped accepting $20 and turned off my bill breaker, put up a bunch of signs (which normally are ignored), etc. Things gradually improved.
Have been able to recover almost back to full capacity since a lot of my customers bring their own quarters.
Have been wanting to switch to dollar coin but have not been able to find a coin drop that works for my machines. Imonex does not have a solution for me (Gen 6 Wascomats). I have been experimenting with a $30 game machine coin drop that accepts dollar coins. If anyone knows of any other solutions please let me know.
