Utility cost increases, 2016 vs. 2021

Utility cost increases in California have been severe.

Increase comparing February 2016 to February 2021, Oxnard CA:

Water (including sewer fee) up 53% per gallon
Gas up 43% per therm
Electricity (delivery charges plus generation charges) up a whopping 79% per KWh

When considering a mat purchase, take into account not only current utility costs but also how they may increase. My rent increases a modest 3% per year, up 16% over the five year period.

In my case, the way to deal with the hike in water rates was NOT to lower water levels in washers. Luckily some competitors have done that, thereby sending customers my way.
